Eden Engine, fuel and heat

The store page tells you to fuel the Eden Engine, manage its power, and drive the train further. It also says heat is survival. It does not publish a burn chart.

Evidence note: The same publisher’s Steam store, API and news posts are not independent sources; information from that publisher alone remains single-source evidence. Community and fan reports remain attributed reports, not official confirmation. This page does not claim that every statement has been verified by two independent sources.

What I checked

I read that paragraph on the store page, then looked at the cab screenshot: three labelled gauges, Pressure, Speed and Consumption, and a HUD temperature of −2.0°C. A second screenshot shows a furnace with a glowing core inside a carriage. The image does not caption it “Eden Engine”, so I am not renaming the furnace.

What the official copy commits to

You fuel the engine, you manage power, you operate the train. As the run gets harder you reinforce walls, craft weapon stations, upgrade the engine, and add carriages, crafting stations and storage. The lead designer told GamingBolt in June 2025 that the train is driven, fuelled, maintained and sometimes defended, and that losing the train is a game over.

The same store text says every step away from the train is a gamble, and that the cold blinds, slows and suffocates. The status screenshot shows a Warmth bar next to Health and Stamina. I can see the bar. I cannot see a formula for how fast it falls.

Fuel, without a fake recipe

Frostrail.org lists branches, logs and charcoal as fuels and says burn times are unpublished. A Steam thread about wood says specific logs, not every stick in the forest, are picked up and used for fuel and building. A different thread says charcoal was not found as loot and was made in a coal kiln. Frostrails Wiki (single fan source) says it never saw charcoal in the demo. Those three cannot be collapsed into one recipe. The charcoal page keeps the split.

A co-op bug report says lighting the engine while another player has the interface open can empty the fuel. That is one thread’s bug, not a rule for how fuel is supposed to work.
