Frostrail demo
The full game is not for sale. The thing you can install today is the free Windows demo on Steam. This page is the download step and the date record.

Evidence note: The same publisher’s Steam store, API and news posts are not independent sources; information from that publisher alone remains single-source evidence. Community and fan reports remain attributed reports, not official confirmation. This page does not claim that every statement has been verified by two independent sources.
What I checked
I opened the demo store page (app 5090080) on 29 October 2026. The language line says English only, the release line says 19 Oct 2026, and the requirements block says TBA. I then read the 19 October, 23 October and 28 October Steam news posts side by side. I have not installed the demo.
Download
Install it from the official Steam page for Frostrail Demo. There is no separate installer on this site, and there is no full-game download. Torrent searches are the wrong door: Steam already hosts a free demo.
The button below leaves this site and opens Steam. You need the Steam client on Windows.
The published window
On 19 October 2026 Shiro posted that the demo was out. On 23 October a follow-up said to play until 26 October, and gave 110,000 players and 570,000 wishlists. On 28 October the studio wrote that the demo would be extended for a week, alongside 600,000+ wishlists, 191,000 unique demo players, more than 30,000 daily active users, and a peak near 9,000 concurrent players.
The 28 October post does not name a new end date or a time of day. Adding seven days to 26 October and printing 2 November would be our arithmetic, not their sentence. Until a new post names a day, the only dated window in the official text is 19–26 October, plus an undated one-week extension.
What the demo page itself lists
Platforms: Windows yes, Mac no, Linux no. Categories: single-player, multi-player, co-op, online co-op, and the “Game demo” flag. The short description matches the main game: scavenge, craft, and run a steam train.
Frostrails Wiki (single fan source) claims the demo covers three areas and about 60–90 minutes. That is one site’s write-up. I am not repeating it as a length you should plan around.
Official video
Shiro Games published this on YouTube on 2026-10-19. Nothing from YouTube loads until you press play.
Questions people ask
How long is the Frostrail demo?
Official posts give a calendar window, not a playtime. It opened 19 October 2026, was described as running until 26 October, then extended by one week on 28 October without a new end date.
Is the Frostrail demo free?
Yes. Steam marks app 5090080 as free. The full game has no published price.
Does the demo include Chinese or Russian?
The demo store page lists English only. The full game’s store page lists seven languages, including Russian and Simplified Chinese. Players on the Steam forum have said the demo client has no Chinese option.
Will demo saves carry into Early Access?
No transfer promise was found in the cited announcements. Demo and Early Access saves should not be assumed compatible.
Can I bypass the demo and play the rest?
No method for that belongs here. The rest of the game is not released. Early Access is listed as Q4 2026.
