Frostrail multiplayer
Steam lists single-player, multi-player, co-op and online co-op. The store text and the April 2025 FAQ both say you can play alone or with up to three other people.

What I checked
I compared the store categories with the April 2025 FAQ and the 19 October demo announcement. All three say 1–4. The friend-join thread reports invitations that do nothing. “Server full” appears in search queries; no specific incident thread was verified for that phrase. I did not sit in a lobby.
What is official
Four is the published cap. A Steam thread asks for more than four; that request is not a feature. Another thread asks for dedicated servers. No official post I found offers them.
During the August 2026 closed beta, the launch post said a participant could invite three friends. The April 2026 playtest post pointed at Steam friend invites. Those are historical tests, not a guarantee that the demo lobby uses the same button.
Only Windows is currently listed. The cited official materials do not establish cross-platform play, split-screen or LAN support.
When an invite fails
Demo threads report accepting an invite with no effect and a “waiting for other players” lock on a tutorial step. The separate “server full” question is answered only with the published four-player cap; no incident report was verified. A developer reply on the Rite of Descent thread says both people in a pair need to reach that quest before the track can be cleared. That is a progress gate, not a network error.
Single-user suggestions (same download region, Steam overlay, display settings hiding the Join button) stay on the troubleshooting page and are labelled as one person’s report.
