People want a best-weapon ranking. The studio has not published one. This page separates the 2025 interview, the store screenshots, and the demo threads.

What I checked
I read the June 2025 GamingBolt interview with lead designer Ez Jämsen and the store “about” text, then looked at four screenshots: a metal hammer in the cab, a nailed club against a large pale creature, a rifle braced in a carriage door, and a sidearm on the status mannequin. I have no damage numbers of my own.
What the designer said
Jämsen described First World War style prototypes: pistol, shotgun, rifle and machine gun, plus basic melee. Guns are crafted, and they take modular modifications. The store text says you craft weapons and equipment, fortify the train, and build weapon stations.
A developer reply in a demo thread asks whether a friend has crafted the zip gun and a torch. That is the craft they used as the example for the demo, not the pipe rifle or a bolt-action. Later guns show up in player threads. I am not listing them as starting gear.
Who you are hitting
The store text says the ruins are haunted by revenants and eldritch horrors, and that the Penitent Gardeners — that is the player crew — purge the cursed. The interview splits hostile forces into revenants, which swarm in melee, and corrupted soldiers, who shoot, think, and come in smaller numbers.
“Remnants” is not an enemy name in that text. The store uses “remnants” for the scraps of abandoned settlements. If a search says “kill remnants”, it is almost certainly revenants.
A store screenshot shows a huge pale creature of ice and roots. I will not assign it to a faction the caption does not name.
Questions people ask
What is the best weapon in Frostrail?
No official ranking, and no demo tier list with two independent sources. The developer’s demo example is the zip gun. A rifle stock has its own page because players ask where it fits.
What is the best loot?
No official loot tier. The deer screenshot names Deer Meat, Leather and a Deer Jerky schematic. That is one frame, not a ranking.
How do you kill revenants?
The interview says they swarm in melee. It does not publish a weak point. Crafted guns and basic melee are the tools the designer named.
