Frostrail review notes

A review percent would be made up. The studio wrote on 28 October 2026 that Frostrail does not have a Steam review score yet. What follows is what the store, the FAQ and the trailers actually show.

What I checked

The linked Shiro Games trailer metadata was checked for title and publication date: 27 February and 19 October 2026. The store screenshots show the train in snow with its headlight on. I have not played, so I am not scoring combat or the length of a session.

Who made it, and on what

FakeFish developed Barotrauma and is developing this. Shiro Unlimited is the publisher. The April 2025 FAQ names Unreal Engine 5. That FAQ also says a full Barotrauma-style mod workshop is not possible under this engine, which belongs on the mods page rather than as a hidden flaw in a score.

Is the demo worth the install?

The demo is free and it is the only playable official build. The 28 October post cites 191,000 unique players, which is a reach number, not a quality number. Store copy promises a train you fuel and expand, heat as a survival meter, and revenants in the snow. The screenshots match that pitch: gauges, a furnace, a status screen with Warmth, a rifle at the door.

The threads also show a rough demo: tunnel saves that players disagree about, a quest that softlocks pairs, no resolution menu, English only. If you want a finished co-op game this week, this is not that. If you want to see the train before Early Access, the demo is the legitimate way, and it costs nothing.

Is the full game worth buying?

There is no price, so there is no answer. Q4 2026 is the window. Come back when a number exists. I will not compare it to Frostpunk 2’s $44.99 and pretend that predicts this one.
