Evidence note: The same publisher’s Steam store, API and news posts are not independent sources; information from that publisher alone remains single-source evidence. Community and fan reports remain attributed reports, not official confirmation. This page does not claim that every statement has been verified by two independent sources.

What I checked

I queried the Steam appdetails endpoint for app 3517740 on 29 October 2026. release_date.coming_soon is true and the date string is “Q4 2026”. price_overview is null. is_free is false. That is the whole price story: not free, and not numbered.

Three phases, not one date

People mix the closed beta, the Next Fest demo, and Early Access. They are three different things in the Steam news log.

Why there is no price

The 24 April 2025 FAQ says giving a number now would mislead people, and the price is decided at launch. I am not estimating a dollar amount from wishlist size or from similar games.

“Is Frostrail free?” The demo is free. The game itself is not marked free, and it has no sticker yet. A wishlist does not buy a copy.

What “out” means today

If you want to play this week, the demo is the only official build. Early Access is still a quarter, not a Tuesday. Console versions are not in this window: the same FAQ says PC and Steam come first, and possible console ports will be evaluated for 1.0 and beyond.
