Can you pause Frostrail?

Whether Frostrail can freeze solo or co-op play remains unconfirmed in the official sources checked on 29 October 2026. One fan guide makes a narrower claim about the crafting panel.

What I checked

I looked through the April 2025 FAQ, the demo news posts, and the Steam discussions used for the rest of this site. None of them say what Esc does, whether solo freezes, or whether co-op keeps simulating. I am not going to describe a menu I have not seen.

What is known about menus and pausing

Single source: Frostrails Wiki’s controls guide, updated 24 October 2026, says opening the crafting panel does not pause play. No independent source was found for that specific behaviour. It does not establish what Esc does or settle whether a separate solo pause exists.

What is documented, on the save page, is what happens when you leave: several players say progress is written at a tunnel, and quitting in the open can drop hours. That is a quit, not a pause.
